The Rolled Cuff Trapeze Dress: Casual-Chic For Ultimate Versatility

The Rolled Cuff Trapeze Dress: Casual-Chic For Ultimate Versatility

Ah, math! Trapeze dresses are named as such because of the trapezoid shape they feature in their cut – the body of the dress flares out at the waist and hips. This style of silhouette is ideal for both comfort and style. It allows for flow, yet drapes gracefully. Building from this starting point, we aimed to design a dress for the woman who wants it all.

Knowing that the cut of the dress made it inherently comfortable, we were free to play with design features that would carefully balance elements of casual-cool and refined. The goal was to maximize its versatility, which is of primary importance in the modern closet.

As with our cami, we loved the sophistication that a v-neck brings to an outfit, but we didn’t want to overdo it. We decided to make the width of the neck less wide, playing down its innate refinement. We also added an interfacing on the inside for a clean line along the edge of the neck.

For the arms, we turned up the cool factor à la James Dean, rolling and tacking the cuffs against the sleeve. This simple but unique detail was unlike any other trapeze dress we had come across, letting the wearer express their individuality. We also loved that, even with the casualness that the sleeve added to the outfit, it could easily be hidden with a cardigan should you decide to opt for a more dressed-up look.

Finally, we ended the dress just above the knee to make it wearable all year round (give or take some tights on a cold day) with a length easily styled for a wide variety of occasions and activities.

This is a black dress that can play a myriad of roles in your closet, with a distinctive style that you’ll be coming back to for years.

The V-Neck Cami: An Instant Modern-Classic

The V-Neck Cami: An Instant Modern-Classic

Traditionally, camis served as an undershirt for outfits, but in modern fashion they have taken on a more prominent role, often as a standalone top in an outfit. When designing our cami, we wanted to create a piece that captured the essence of each of these purposes. For us, that meant a design that was light and comfortable, almost like a second skin, but at the same time substantive with details that made it fashionable enough to be worn on its own.

Our revived knit fabric was perfect for ensuring the look would be comfortable – it is second-to-none when it comes to softness. We also added an interfacing to the inside of the body to supply an extra layer of gentleness at the shoulders.

Next came thinking about the stylistic point of view. Because we wanted it to be able to play a leading role of an outfit in its own right, we knew it needed distinct features that you didn’t see anywhere else on the market. The neckline was an obvious starting point to begin experimenting.

We loved the dramatic angle of a v-shape on the front, which did a fantastic job highlighting the collarbones (one of the most beautiful parts of the body in our opinion). To make the v-cut at the acute angle we desired, we shortened the shoulder straps to under two inches. This is not typical for a cami, which usually features straps upwards of 5 or more inches. We thought it was an improvement :) We loved the shape so much that we put it on the back neckline as well, bringing in the angle of the v-cut the slightest bit so that the straps won’t fall off your shoulders.

To complete the design, we took in the armholes a smidge. This ensured that the top of the look would hold its shape while still maintaining its overall effortlessness in mind and body.

The result? A top easily dressed up or down. A look that is cool, collected, and a bit coy. A piece that is as intentional as it is versatile, and will never go out of style.

And made from 100% revived fabrics, to boot.
